Miley Ray Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992 in Franklin, Tennessee and raised in Thompson's Station, Tennessee to Tish Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus. Five siblings are hers - two half-brothers and a half-sister and a younger brother and sister. Her parents chose her name because they believed she could achieve the heights of success. The nickname she was given in her childhood, Smiley, due to her infectious personality later changed to Miley. Her paternal grandfather was Democratic politician Ron Cyrus. Cyrus began her studies at Heritage Elementary School located in Tennessee. After she reached the age of eighteen, Cyrus and her family relocated to Toronto in Canada where Billy Ray, Cyrus's father played the role of Doc (2001) in TV. Cyrus took the choice to start acting around that date. Her first performance was in a movie with her father Doc (2001). She also played one small part in Tim Burton's Big Fish. Cyrus was on Hannah Montana (2006) (a Disney show about a teenage woman who lives a double life as a performer) as the main character. In this case, her father was also in the show as her. The show was later to become a massive hit. Record sales, tour dates that sold out and contracts for merchandise followed. Cyrus rose to fame as an early teen. Cyrus, who had starred as a character in Hannah Montana (2006) and The Last Song (2010) along with Demi Moore, moved on into other roles.
